Russia’s imports of Belarusian gasoline hit a record high in June 2026.
Between June 1 and June 25, Russia took in 141,000 tons of fuel from Belarus — 2.4 times the total volume delivered in all of May, the Russian business daily Vedomosti reported, citing data from the Center for Price Indices (CPI). Belarus had supplied Russia with just 1,000 tons of gasoline in June 2025.
According to CPI data, Belarus shifted to Russia volumes of fuel that had previously been bound for Central Asian countries.
Experts interviewed by the outlet said the surge in Belarusian gasoline imports would help ease pressure on the Russian fuel market but would fall short of closing the gasoline deficit entirely.
Belarus can export 1.8 to 2 million tons of gasoline per year — roughly 150,000 to 170,000 tons per month — energy expert Kirill Rodionov told Vedomosti.
The Reuters news agency had previously reported that summer gasoline consumption in Russia amounts to at least 110,000 tons per day.
Amid a fuel crisis triggered by Ukrainian drone strikes on oil facilities, Russia has been forced to increase fuel imports from abroad. The country has reportedly begun importing gasoline from India and is also in talks with Kazakhstan over additional supplies.
On July 1, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that the price of Belarusian gasoline on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange had risen 1.8-fold since early May.
In July, Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan appealed to Belarus and neighboring countries for help securing fuel supplies. About 90 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s gasoline imports come from Russia.
