The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a bulk carrier was struck by an “unknown projectile” in the Gulf, about 23 nautical miles northeast of Doha.
The agency said the vessel reported a small fire following the incident, which was later extinguished.
UKMTO said there were no casualties and no environmental damage was reported.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions and increased military activity around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route connecting Gulf oil producers to international markets.
