A cargo ship leaving Iran was fired upon and was stopped in the water, a British maritime agency reported, as the US continued its blockade of Iranian ports.
"A master of an outbound cargo ship reports having been fired upon and is now stopped in the water. Crew are safe and accounted for. There is no reported damage to the vessel," the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre said.
It said the incident took place eight nautical miles west of Iran.
Officials said the decision to pre-record the event was made in light of the ongoing ceasefire and the broader security situation, with attendance limited to the soldiers’ families.
Following the report of the attack, the IRGC issued a statement to Iranian state news, declaring that they are prepared to confront any new aggression.
