State media reported that the train service between Tehran and the northeastern city of Mashhad has been suspended following US strikes, just hours before the burial of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in his hometown.
His body was expected to be buried late on Thursday in the Shrine of Imam Reza, located in central Mashdad.
The railways authority blamed "a criminal attack by the US-Israeli enemy" on the route, adding that repair teams have been dispatched. Road transport was also being arranged for stranded passengers.
Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps accused Washington of targeting two bridges in the eastern provinces leading toward Mashhad in an effort to "overshadow" Khamenei's funeral.
