The Justice Ministry is using a lawyer from the Ateret Cohanim association to lead the eviction process of the Basha family from a building where they have lived for almost a century in the Old City of Jerusalem. The family has less than two weeks to leave
Two weeks after the Six-Day War, the daily Maariv told its readers that "a treasure trove of sacred and Torah books has been discovered in an abandoned synagogue in the Old City." Journalist Gavriel Tzifroni reported that "Muhammed Abdul Ghani, a 60- year-old vegetable seller in Jerusalem, watched over the synagogue and the Torat Chaim yeshiva on the Via Dolorosa in the heart of the Muslim Quarter, for 38 years."
