Israel's defence ministry says it is buying $48m worth of Elbit artillery shells
Israel's Ministry of Defence on Monday said that it had placed a $48m order for "tens of thousands" of 155mm artillery shells from Israeli defence company Elbit Systems.
The order was part of a broader ministry strategy to reduce Israel's reliance on foreign munitions and expand domestic production, the ministry said in a statement.
It did not say when the munitions would be delivered.
Israel-based Elbit Systems Ltd has been a central supplier of weapons and technologies used in Gaza since the beginning of the war in October 2023.
On 19 February, campaigners have filed a complaint to the London Metropolitan Police against the Elbit Systems defence company over its involvement in the genocide in Gaza.
