The government knows it can only survive through tactics used by tyrannical rulers and regimes, and Sunday's decision to defy Israel's High Court brought us closer to that. Netanyahu and his ministers are probably right in assuming that no one will go out to protest the decision

Exactly three and a half years have passed since January 4, 2023, the date on which Justice Minister Yariv Levin launched his surprise attack on Israeli democracy in the form of his "legal reform." During those three and a half years, the frog from the well-known fable has been slowly cooking in the pot.
