Oil depot on fire in Krasnodar region following drone attack

An oil depot is on fire in Russia’s Krasnodar region following a drone attack on the night of June 16.

According to Ukrinform, the BBC Russian Service reported this.

The region’s emergency response headquarters reported that a fire broke out at an oil depot in the village of Poltavskaya, Krasnoarmeysky district, Krasnodar region, “as a result of falling UAV debris.”

The report notes that there are no casualties or injuries, and 32 people and seven pieces of equipment have been deployed to extinguish the fire.

TMT reports that the Poltavskaya oil depot receives products from oil refineries, including Lukoil facilities, and then distributes them to gas station networks in the Krasnodar region and Adygea.

The village of Poltavskaya is located 80 km west of Krasnodar and about 385 km from the front line.

The publication adds that, following Crimea, a gasoline shortage emerged in the Krasnodar region as early as the beginning of June. The region’s operational headquarters stated that more than 500 gas stations are out of fuel because they purchase fuel in small wholesale quantities without long-term contracts with suppliers.

Currently, more than 25 regions of Russia are facing a fuel shortage.

According to the ASTRA Telegram channel, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air defenses shot down 172 UAVs over Russian regions and the temporarily occupied Crimea between 8:00 p.m. on Monday and 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday. It is claimed that the UAVs were shot down over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Oryol, Tambov, Tula, Rostov, and Ryazan regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar region, the temporarily occupied Crimea, and the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

Shortly after 7 a.m., Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the destruction of 21 UAVs in the capital region. In total, he reported 35 drones shot down this morning.

As reported by Ukrinform, an oil refinery is on fire in Moscow as a result of the attack.
