Greek police have arrested a Polish citizen on charges of spying on the military base used by US forces in Crete, the ANA news agency is reporting.

The 58-year-old is alleged to have taken pictures of ships entering the base on the island, police told the agency. The man, who was arrested on Thursday, has denied the charges.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, passed through Souda late last month.

On 2 March, a Georgian man was also arrested on charges of spying at the base.
