As of the morning of July 9, Russian attacks left consumers without electricity in five Ukrainian regions, while another 168 settlements in four regions remained without power due to bad weather.
Ukraine's national power grid operator Ukrenergo said this in a Facebook post, according to Ukrinform.
"As a result of enemy shelling, consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions were left without electricity as of this morning. Emergency repair work is already underway wherever the security situation permits," the statement said.
Adverse weather conditions, including thunderstorms and strong winds, also caused full or partial power outages in 168 settlements across the Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Sumy regions. Regional power distribution companies are working to restore damaged power lines.
As of 09:30, electricity consumption was 2.7% lower than on the previous day. Ukrenergo attributed the decline to clear weather in central and southwestern Ukraine, which has increased the efficiency of household solar power systems.
The grid operator advised consumers to shift energy-intensive electricity use to the period between 10:00 and 16:00, when industrial solar power plants operate at peak efficiency.
