Russian forces attacked three cargo ships in the Black Sea with drones as the vessels were heading to ports in the Odesa region, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional administration.
The attacks occurred in the early hours of June 22. One of the ships struck was a dry cargo vessel sailing under a Panamanian flag. A fire broke out on board and the crew was evacuated. One crew member was killed — an Egyptian national who worked as the ship’s cook, Kiper said.
Ukraine’s Navy said the crew of the dry cargo vessel included citizens of Egypt, Turkey, and India.
Two other ships, sailing under the flags of Palau and Belize, were also hit. There were no casualties.
