Ukraine is building a continuous defensive line from the Kyiv Reservoir to the city of Sumy to prevent Russia from creating a so-called “buffer zone,” the Chief of Engineering Troops of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) said.
Brigadier General Vasyl Sirotenko, as per Ukrinform, said that the scale of construction is so extensive it is visible from space.

“Any course of action is possible. The enemy has learned to create appropriate groupings and quickly transfer forces from one flank to another,” he said.
“A significant amount of effort and resources are being devoted to building this line as quickly as possible – to avoid surprises and prevent the enemy from threatening our country from this direction,” Sirotenko added.
AFU’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky said on April 22 that Russia is regrouping its units and moving reserves to the front, potentially indicating preparations for new offensive operations.
According to him, Russian forces continue attempts to advance and aim to seize not only the Donbas but all of Ukraine.
The DeepState project has also reported that Russia is continuing efforts to establish a “buffer zone” along the border in the Sumy region.
Joint Forces Commander Mykhailo Drapaty said Russia is attempting to create such a zone in both Sumy and Kharkiv regions by trying to capture border villages.
