Eight people were killed and 16 others injured in a Russian missile and drone strike on Odesa early Thursday morning, April 16.
Earlier, the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Lysak, said on Telegram: “Unfortunately, we have six dead... Another 11 people were injured and are receiving all necessary medical care.”

Lysak later clarified that the death toll had risen to seven, and subsequently confirmed eight fatalities.
“We have just learned about the eighth death after this difficult night in Odesa. Condolences to the family and loved ones. Also, 16 people were injured as a result of the attack,” he said.
According to Lysak, infrastructure facilities and a residential building in the Khadzhibeyskyi district were damaged, while the blast wave shattered more than 300 windows in surrounding buildings. Damage was also reported in one of the parks in the Primorskyi district. Emergency services are working at the scene.
Later, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported that port, critical, and residential infrastructure were damaged in the overnight attack.
