Russia Unleashes 339 Drones Overnight: Lutsk, Khmelnytsky Hit, Fires Erupt Across Ukraine

Lutsk came under attack by Russian forces early on Wednesday morning, April 1, according to the Lutsk City Council.

In a Telegram report, officials said that at 6:55 a.m. local time, one of the industrial enterprises in Lutsk was hit.

The extent of the damage and the consequences for production facilities are currently being assessed. Specialists from the State Emergency Service (DSNS) are working to extinguish the fire and clear the rubble.

“One of the industrial enterprises in Lutsk was hit. An apartment building was also damaged by Shahed drone debris,” the city council reported.

Later, Mayor Ihor Polishchuk clarified that the attack damaged a Nova Poshta warehouse and a grocery warehouse belonging to one of the retail chains. The balcony of an apartment building, where a fire broke out, was also damaged.

Information about casualties is still being clarified.

Russian forces also attacked Khmelnytsky on Wednesday morning, causing a large-scale fire.

On Telegram, the head of the Khmelnytsky Regional Military Administration (OVA), Serhiy Tyurin, reported:

“During the morning air raid alert in the region, air defense forces were active. As a result of the enemy attack, a fire broke out on the territory of an enterprise in the regional center. DSNS units were involved in extinguishing it.”

According to Tyurin, there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries.

The DSNS said the fire was quickly extinguished, with 51 rescuers and nine units of equipment involved.

Russian forces also attacked Nikopol with a strike drone on the evening of Tuesday, March 31, injuring 11 people.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Oleksandr Hanzha, said on Telegram that five-story residential buildings and shops were damaged in the FPV drone attack. A car was also destroyed by fire.

“Three people were hospitalized. A 16-year-old girl and a 28-year-old woman are in serious condition. A 25-year-old victim is in moderate condition,” Hanzha added.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, from 6:00 p.m. on March 31, Russia launched 339 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas drones, as well as other types. About 200 of them were Shahed drones.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data as of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 298 Russian drones across the north, south, east, west, and center of the country.

At the same time, 20 strike UAVs hit 11 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 5 additional locations.
