Girls in grades five and six at School No. 62 in Izhevsk were put to work sewing underwear for Russian service members fighting in Ukraine. The school published a post about the sewing drive on June 11, but the post went unnoticed until recently. The Telegram channel “Udmurtia Without Corruption” was among the first to flag it.
The school said its “Igolochka” (Little Needle) sewing brigade had produced a batch of clothing for troops in a regiment from Udmurtia. Photos in the post, however, show that what they actually sewed was underwear.
“Girls in fifth and sixth grade worked without rest for two weeks. […] The girls made their own contribution to helping people in need! These items will be sent to the front, where they’ll come in handy for the troops,” the school said.
In return for the underwear, Igolochka received two thank-you letters: one from the medical service of the Udmurt regiment and one from the “Pomoshch Frontu Izhevsk” (Help for the Front Izhevsk) movement.
