Death toll form Russian attack on Kyiv rises to 13, 86 people injured

The death toll from Russia's massive combined overnight attack on Kyiv has risen to 13, while the number of injured has increased to 86.

According to Ukrinform, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko announced the updated figures on Telegram.

"A total of 86 people have been injured in the capital as a result of the enemy's overnight attack. Seventy of them have been hospitalized. As of now, 13 people are confirmed dead," Klitschko said.

According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Russian attack partially destroyed a five-story and a nine-story residential building, as well as the upper floors of a 16-story apartment block. A medical emergency substation, a gas station, the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry, a hotel, and private homes were also damaged.

Among the injured are employees of the emergency medical station. A six-year-old girl and her one-and-a-half-year-old brother were also wounded.

Residential buildings were damaged in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

Rescue operations are continuing at the sites of direct strikes and falling debris, with people believed to remain trapped beneath the rubble. The final number of casualties is still being established.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into a war crime committed by Russian forces that resulted in civilian deaths, under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported on Facebook that search and rescue operations are ongoing at damaged high-rise apartment buildings and private homes in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district.

SES psychologists have provided assistance to more than 50 residents of damaged buildings at two locations.

Nearly 500 rescuers and 96 units of firefighting, rescue, and specialized equipment have been deployed to respond to the aftermath of the attack.

The Kyiv City State Administration said assistance centers for those affected by the July 2 Russian attack had been set up in the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

As reported by Ukrinform, authorities had earlier confirmed 11 fatalities and 56 injuries, including two children, following Russia's massive overnight attack on July 2.

As of 07:00, damage and destruction had been recorded at more than 30 locations across every district of Kyiv.
