Exceptional flights from Aleppo International Airport

Syrian Airlines clarified that the flights recently announced from Aleppo International Airport are new exceptional flights and do not replace the flights that were previously canceled in earlier schedules.

According to a company statement issued on March 11, any passenger whose flight was previously canceled can obtain a full refund for their ticket in accordance with the company’s approved procedures.

Syrian Airlines also noted that it guarantees simplified procedures for passengers when modifying their tickets.

Passengers may also recover the amounts they paid by modifying their bookings to the newly scheduled flights and paying any price differences if applicable, depending on the available flights, according to the company’s statement.

The airline explained that the prices of the current exceptional flights differ from those of the previously scheduled flights.

This is due to the longer flight durations and delays, which result in higher fuel consumption and additional fees related to aircraft operations and associated equipment.

According to the company, ticket prices for these flights are determined based on the actual operational costs of the implemented flights, taking into account the current conditions of the airspace serving local airports. The aim is to ensure the continuation of flights at the minimum level required to maintain air connectivity for passengers.

Flights operating via Aleppo International Airport

The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation had previously announced that Syrian Airlines was granted approval to operate several flights from Aleppo International Airport to a number of regional destinations via a safe air corridor over the Mediterranean Sea.

The authority said the route was adopted following a technical study aimed at ensuring the highest safety standards for civil aviation.

It also noted that operational risk assessments in Syrian airspace are conducted continuously and around the clock, according to internationally recognized risk-based evaluation methods and in coordination with regional air traffic management centers, ensuring that operational decisions are taken in a timely manner.

The authority added that these measures aim to balance aviation safety and security requirements with maintaining air connectivity to serve citizens and facilitate travel and supply movements.

Partial reopening of air corridors

On March 3, the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation announced a partial reopening of air corridors in the northern sector of the Syrian Arab Republic’s airspace toward Turkey.

Aleppo International Airport resumed operations starting March 4, while the rest of the air corridors and Damascus International Airport remain closed until further notice.
