At around 3:12 a.m., air raid alerts were issued nationwide over the threat of ballistic missiles. Ukrainian military monitoring later tracked high-speed targets headed toward Kharkiv and Cherkasy.

Additional guided aerial bombs (KABs) were launched toward Zaporizhzhia. Explosions were reported in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy, though authorities said missiles targeting Cherkasy failed to reach their objectives.

Dnipro hit first

The city of Dnipro was among the first targets late on May 4. Regional authorities said three private homes were heavily damaged and a critical infrastructure facility was struck.

A 62-year-old man was injured in the attack. Emergency crews extinguished fires in residential areas, while several vehicles were damaged. An infrastructure site in the surrounding district was also hit.

Two people were injured in Brovary, a city northeast of Kyiv city, Kyiv Regional Military Administration head Mykola Kalashnyk said.

According to regional authorities, medics assisted at the scene and neither victim required hospitalization.

The attack damaged apartment windows, the facade of a multi-story residential building, and a vehicle.

“This is yet another reminder that the enemy targets peaceful life and our homes. I urge everyone: do not ignore air raid alerts. Stay in safe places while the threat remains,” Kalashnyk said.

Air raid alerts in Kyiv

Air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and several northern and central regions of Ukraine amid warnings of a possible Russian ballistic missile attack in Tuesday’s early morning hours.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued an alert on Telegram, warning of the threat of ballistic missile launches and urging residents to move to shelters immediately as high-speed targets were detected heading toward the capital.

Initial reports from the Kyiv City Military Administration indicated that air defense units were active. Alerts also extended to the Chernihiv and Poltava regions, where officials warned of an additional threat from incoming Russian drones following the ballistic warning.

Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv at 4:33 a.m., with explosions and air defense activity reported in the capital; however, no immediate damage was confirmed.

In the wider Kyiv region, officials reported three injured civilians. In the Brovary district, drone strikes hit a residential area, injuring two people. In the Vyshhorod district, a strike triggered a fire at an industrial facility, leaving one person wounded.

Kharkiv targeted by missiles and drones

Kharkiv also came under missile attack overnight. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said one strike hit an open area in the Osnovianskyi district, damaging a residential building’s roof and windows.

Another missile landed near a warehouse in the same district, damaging the facility and nearby vehicles.

While no casualties were reported overnight, morning drone strikes at 7:25 a.m. and 7:35 a.m. hit the Kholodnohirskyi and Osnovianskyi districts. At least one person was injured, with officials still clarifying the total number of victims.

Zaporizhzhia: Bomb strike sparks fire

Around 3:50 a.m., guided aerial bombs targeted the Zaporizhzhia region. Authorities reported a fire at a non-residential building in the regional center.

One woman was injured in the strike and is receiving medical treatment, regional officials said.
