Details: Syrskyi also said he had held an operational meeting on the state of engineering works on the defensive lines. Among the key tasks he named the strengthening of fortifications, the development of protection against drones and the preparation of settlements for defence.
During the meeting, reports were heard from military commanders, the leadership of the State Special Transport Service and heads of oblast military administrations. According to the commander-in-chief, there are problematic issues for which specific solutions and deadlines have been set.
Syrskyi added that the resilience of the defence and the lives of Ukrainian soldiers depend on how quickly and effectively these tasks are carried out.
Previously: On 18 March, 235 combat clashes with Russian forces were recorded along the front line. The heaviest fighting took place on the Pokrovsk front, where Russian troops carried out 54 attacks.
Background: On 29 December, amid peace talks, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin said Russia would continue to carry out the objectives of the so-called "special military operation" [as they refer to the war against Ukraine – ed.] "in line with the plans of the General Staff".
