Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said air defense forces shot down 16 Ukrainian drones heading toward the Russian capital on the afternoon of June 19.

Sobyanin first reported the shootdowns on his Telegram channel at 12:11 p.m. Moscow time. Sobyanin reported no casualties or damage from the attack.

Update. Sobyanin subsequently announced that nine more drones had been shot down on approach to Moscow. At 1:42 p.m., he said an additional 10 had been destroyed, bringing the total number of drones shot down to 35.

On the night and morning of June 18, Moscow and the Moscow region were attacked by nearly 200 Ukrainian drones. It was the largest attack on the Russian capital since the start of the full-scale war. A refinery caught fire in Kapotnya, drones fell on the Sadovod market and the Mega Belaya Dacha shopping center. In various cities in the Moscow region, 17 people were injured as a result of the overnight attacks, including two children.
