Oil refinery catches fire in Krasnodar region following drone attack

On the night of June 28, a fire broke out at a local oil refinery in the city of Slovyansk-on-Kuban in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation as a result of a drone attack.

According to Ukrinform, the Russian BBC service reported this, citing the region’s operational headquarters.

It is claimed that the fire at the Slovyansk Oil Refinery was caused by falling UAV debris.

The Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters did not specify the extent of the fire at the facility.

The region’s governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, confirmed the fire on the refinery’s premises. He also stated that as a result of the attack in Slovyansk-on-Kuban, a power line, a gas pipeline, and several private homes were damaged, and reported one fatality and one injury.

Meanwhile, Mikhail Yevraev, governor of the Yaroslavl Region of the Russian Federation, stated on Sunday morning that the exit from the city of Yaroslavl was blocked for an hour due to a drone attack.

It is noted that the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, which has been repeatedly attacked by drones in the past, is located in this city.

The traffic closure may indicate a new attack on the facility, though there is no official information on this, the report states.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that it had allegedly shot down 213 drones of various types on the night of June 27–28.

As reported by Ukrinform, drones were shot down over Moscow and the surrounding region on the night of June 26. Drones also attacked the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, Russia.

According to Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, the extent of Ukrainian attacks is being concealed in Russian regions.
