Russia’s NORSI oil refinery in Kstovo, in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, has suspended operations after sustaining damage in a Ukrainian drone strike in the early hours of April 5, the Reuters news agency reported, citing sources.
Lukoil has not listed any gasoline, diesel, or fuel oil from the refinery for sale on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange. Industry sources told Reuters that supplies could remain suspended through the end of the month.
Lukoil did not respond to a request for comment.
NORSI is Russia’s fourth-largest oil refinery and its second-largest gasoline producer, capable of processing 16 million tons of oil per year, or about 320,000 barrels per day.
Ukraine has stepped up strikes on Russian oil refineries in recent weeks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on April 6 that Ukrainian forces were seeking to limit Russia’s ability to profit from the crisis in the oil sector caused by the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, adding that everything Russia earned from elevated oil prices would be spent on the war.
