In the Odesa region, two civilian vessels were damaged as a result of a Russian drone attack overnight on March 20, and two people were injured.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Facebook by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
“As a result of the nighttime attack on the Odesa region by strike UAVs, two civilian commercial vessels flying the flags of Palau and Barbados were damaged,” Kuleba said.
According to him, two people were injured. They received medical assistance.
At the time of the strike, the vessels were near berths and loaded with grain. Despite this, Kuleba noted, the ships remain afloat.
In addition, administrative buildings were damaged.
A fire broke out at the site, but firefighters quickly contained it.
Efforts to eliminate the consequences are ongoing at the locations.
As Kuleba emphasized, this is another war crime by Russia against global food security.
For its part, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on Telegram that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes (Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Overnight on March 20, the Russian Armed Forces attacked port and industrial infrastructure facilities in the Odesa district with strike drones.
Two administrative buildings were also damaged.
Two men, aged 36 and 37, were injured. They were hospitalized.
