Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) chief David Zini met with former Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan while visiting the United Arab Emirates, KAN News reported on Tuesday morning.

Dahlan has been exiled in Abu Dhabi since 2011 after Mahmoud Abbas claimed that he had murdered Yasser Arafat.

When approached for comment, the Shin Bet said, "We do not comment on the chief's schedule."

Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Mossad chief David Barnea visited the UAE at least twice, in March and April, during Operation Roaring Lion to coordinate regarding the war.

KAN News also reported at the time that Zini had visited the UAE, and that the two countries were coordinated on security issues during the war.

Former Fatah official considered for post-war Gaza leader

In 2024, the Wall Street Journal reported that Dahlan was being considered by US, Israeli, and Arab officials as a candidate to lead Gaza after the Israel-Hamas war.

However, currently the technocratic committee selected to administrate the Gaza strip is led by Ali Shaath, a former Palestinian Authority deputy minister who has a background that includes serving in several roles in the administration of the West Bank, most notably as deputy minister of planning and international cooperation and as undersecretary at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

He also chaired the Palestinian Housing Council, headed the Palestinian Ports Authority, and worked as an advisor to the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction.
