Ukrainian drones destroy two Tu-142 aircraft, Iskander missile system at Taganrog Air Base

Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed two Tu-142 military aircraft and an Iskander tactical missile system during a nighttime strike on a Russian military airfield in Taganrog, Russia, on May 30.

Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi announced this on Facebook and published a video of the operation, according to Ukrinform.

"Unmanned Systems Forces drones destroyed an Iskander system and two Tu-142 aircraft at a military airfield in Taganrog, Russia, on the night of May 30," Brovdi said.

He noted that the Tu-142 is a long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft developed from a strategic bomber platform.

Brovdi said the Iskander is a Russian operational-tactical missile system capable of launching surface-to-surface missiles. According to him, the launcher was struck while deployed at a firing position in marshland near Taganrog in Russia's Rostov region.

The operation was carried out by drones of the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center.

"The results were not limited to the targets listed above. Things were also burning well on the water. Video footage will follow," Brovdi added.
