Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has released an interactive 3D model, components and information on the companies involved in the production of Russia's Krasnopol-M2 guided artillery munitions.

Details: The intelligence agency noted that the developer and primary manufacturer of the munition is the Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau, which is part of High Precision Systems, a holding company within the Rostec state-owned group. In early April, the entity publicly announced further deliveries of these shells for use in the war against Ukraine.

The Krasnopol is a 152mm guided high-explosive fragmentation munition. It is fired from self-propelled artillery systems such as the Msta-S and Akatsiya, as well as towed systems such as the Msta-B and D-20. Guidance is achieved via laser target designation from ground-based systems or using UAVs, including the Orlan-30 and Granat-4.

DIU noted that a Krasnopol-M2 round consists of a 3OF95 guided high-explosive fragmentation shell, a propellant charge and special packaging. Depending on the system modification and charge, the engagement range exceeds 20 kilometres.

As part of the update, the intelligence agency published details of the shell's construction, as well as a list of 17 companies involved in their production. Five of these are still not under sanctions from any partner country – despite their involvement in the manufacture of key components, including guidance system elements, electric motors for steering actuators and warhead fuzes.

"The aggressor state Russia continues to use precision munitions in the war against Ukraine, relying on access to technologies and components. DIU systematically exposes these supply chains and calls for increased sanctions pressure to deprive the aggressor of the capacity to wage war," DIU added.

Background: DIU previously posted interactive 3D models, parts and electronic components of the Russian Lancet and Scalpel loitering munitions, along with data on the companies involved in their production.
