President Trump reported that a meeting between U.S., Israeli and Lebanese officials “went very well”, adding that “the U.S. is going to work with Lebanon to protect itself from Hizbollah. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks”. A Hizbollah representative subsequently maintained that “any Israeli aggression against any Lebanese target, regardless of its nature, gives the resistance the right to respond proportionately… Lebanese authorities must abandon their policy of passive ambiguity and their empty, meaningless and untrustworthy pronouncements which reveal a blatant contradiction between what these authorities declare and the actual realities on the ground”.
