Iran war: Morning update

Good morning, Middle East Eye readers, 

Here are some of the latest key updates from the Iran war:

The US bombed military installations on Iran’s Kharg Island, close to the Strait of Hormuz, President Donald Trump announced. The island handles roughly 90% of Iran’s crude exports.  

Tehran warned it would hit regional oil facilities if its own energy infrastructure was attacked, reported state media. It also reported that no oil infrastructure on Kharg Island was damaged.

Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on the condition that the oil cargo is traded in Chinese yuan, CNN reported, quoting a senior Iranian official. 

Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, reported intercepting strikes on their territory.

A missile struck a helipad inside the US Embassy compound in Baghdad, Iraqi officials told The Associated Press. Smoke and fire were seen near the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.

The Israeli military on Saturday warned people to evacuate an industrial area west of the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz ahead of planned strikes.

Hamas has urged Iran not to target neighbouring countries as tensions escalate in the region, while backing Tehran’s right to respond to US and Israeli actions.

Iran said it carried out the 46th wave of its “Operation True Promise 4” against targets in the occupied territories using "super-heavy missiles".
