Patria has entered agreements with three Czech state enterprises aimed at future cooperation related to the Czech Armed Forces’ plans to acquire a new 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle platform.

The company signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Vojenský technický ústav, VOP CZ, and Vojenský výzkumný ústav, focusing on domestic industry involvement in the project.

As previously disclosed by Army Technology, the Czech Republic plans to replace its Pandur II 8×8 armoured personnel carrier, citing ongoing challenges since its introduction in 2010. Issues with the platform include limited availability and reliance on outdated software, which continues to operate on Windows 98.

In line with these plans, Patria is offering its latest version of the Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) platform to the Czech market, proposing the Patria AMV XP 8×8 CZ model, which is already in service with armed forces across multiple regions.

Patria outlines that its proposal will address the Czech military’s operational needs, delivery schedule, and localisation requirements.

This localisation includes in-country maintenance and lifecycle support, with the intent to secure domestic supply.

Patria maintains a long-standing partnership with Czech-based STV GROUP, a producer and supplier of defence equipment.

Through its extended cooperation with Czech state and private entities, Patria aims to facilitate the transfer of technology and capabilities in production, vehicle maintenance, and future development.

The company reports previous experience in managing similar technology transfers in several countries across three continents.

Patria president and CEO Panu Routila said: “Patria has decades of proven expertise in the development of armoured vehicles, and technology transfer is a natural part of our business model.

“Patria AMV XP 8×8 is the vehicle that we have developed the longest: It is the state-of-the-art modular and robust armoured wheeled vehicle providing superior fire power, protection, and mobility. We are delighted to have new countries interested in our AMV XP family and always look forward to fostering enduring partnerships.”
