The search-and-rescue operation in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district has concluded after more than 28 hours. The deaths of 24 people have been confirmed, three of whom were children. There are also reports that 48 people were injured.
According to Ukrinform, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported this on Telegram.
Rescuers cleared more than 3,000 cubic meters of the building’s rubble.
Nearly 400 people received assistance from psychologists with the State Emergency Service and the National Police, who provided counseling and support to the victims and their loved ones at the scene of the tragedy.
SES units have moved on to emergency restoration work.
Klymenko noted that today in Kyiv, the Day of Mourning has been declared for those killed in the Russian Federation’s massive attack on May 14.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko specified that among those killed in the enemy strike on the city were girls aged 12, 15, and 17. According to him, more than 50 people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack, 24 of whom are hospitalized.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of May 14, Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone strike against Ukraine. The main target of the strike was Kyiv.
In the Darnytskyi district of the capital, 18 apartments were destroyed as a result of a Russian strike on a multi-story apartment building.
