Syrskyi Says Russian Losses Mount As Fighting Intensifies Across Front

Russian forces have increased pressure along multiple sections of the front line, with daily combat engagements exceeding 200 and Ukrainian troops inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

Syrskyi reported that Russian casualties have risen significantly in recent days as fighting intensifies with changing weather conditions.

Surge in clashes and Russian losses

According to a statement posted on Telegram, Syrskyi said the number of combat engagements has exceeded 200 per day for several consecutive days.

He added that Russian forces have suffered substantial losses over a short period.

“Over Tuesday to Thursday alone, about 4,840 occupiers were neutralized, killed or wounded,” Syrskyi said.

The commander-in-chief attributed the escalation in fighting to seasonal changes, noting that Russian troops have stepped up pressure across several sectors of the front.

Syrskyi said the increased activity of Russian forces requires Ukrainian troops to adopt new, asymmetric approaches on the battlefield.

He emphasized that Ukrainian forces are acting proactively, seeking to seize the initiative and regain positions.

“Ukrainian troops are acting actively, intercepting the initiative and continuing to restore positions,” Syrskyi noted.

Continued offensive operations in the south

During a working visit to the southern operational zone, where active combat continues, Syrskyi met with commanders responsible for offensive operations.

He said discussions focused on the current battlefield situation, the results of previous missions and the coordination of further actions based on Russian tactics.

On site, Syrskyi issued orders aimed at strengthening logistical support, including the provision of ammunition, drones and other material resources.

In a separate recent update, Syrskyi highlighted that Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding their positions while continuing offensive actions in the south.

He said Ukrainian troops are destroying Russian forces, gradually advancing and fighting to liberate settlements.

“Our priorities are to liberate Ukrainian territory from occupiers and preserve the lives of our soldiers,” Syrskyi stated, stressing that operational security remains essential for the success of ongoing missions.

Fighting continues along multiple sectors

Syrskyi thanked Ukrainian servicemen for their resilience and efforts on the front line, emphasizing that the fight against Russian forces is ongoing.

“The struggle continues,” he said.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that Russia continues to apply pressure along the front despite heavy losses, while Ukrainian forces seek to maintain defensive lines and exploit opportunities to regain ground.
