Two people have died in flooding in the Derbent district of Dagestan, the TASS news agency reported, citing the republic’s emergency medicine center.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to save a pregnant woman and a minor,” a center representative told the agency.
Several people had been pulled from the river after being swept away when a bridge on the federal Kavkaz highway collapsed near the settlement of Kala, Derbent district head Elman Allakhverdiyev said on the evening of April 5.
Two more people are missing, Dagestan’s Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Minister Nariman Kazimagomedov said on the morning of April 6.
