Amphibious Warship USS Rushmore Sailing Through Strait of Malacca

Dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD-47) sailed through the Singapore Strait this week and is headed west through the Strait of Malacca, according to ship spotters. Rushmore, a Whidbey Island-class amphibious warship, is expected to meet up with the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in U.S. Central Command, USNI News previously reported. USS Tripoli (LHA-7), USS New Orleans (LPD-18) and elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit chopped into U.S. 5th Fleet last week. The two ships and the embarked Marines make up the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group, which the Pentagon dispatched to the Middle East amid the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war
