Alexei Pimanov, a host on the Russian state-controlled Channel One, died of heart failure on April 23, the network reported. He was 64.
Pimanov had hosted the program Chelovek i zakon “Man and the Law” since 1996. That same year he took the helm of the Ostankino television company — formerly RTS — which produces programming for Channel One; he held the post until 2010.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other countries sanctioned Pimanov for his role as a propagandist.
