Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said it will “absolutely” continue charging countries and vessels fees for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, as the key shipping route remains heavily restricted.
“A series of measures is in place for passage through the Strait of Hormuz due to the war situation imposed on Iran,” Baghaei said in an interview with India Today.
The comments signal Tehran’s intent to control access to the vital waterway, amid ongoing conflict in the region.
