Medical evacuation units to receive additional armored vehicles and EW equipment — CinC Syrskyi

Medical evacuation units will be additionally equipped with armored vehicles and modern electronic warfare systems.

According to Ukrinform, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on Facebook following a meeting on medical support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, preserving the life and health of a soldier begins not at the moment of injury, but much earlier—with effective prevention, timely detection of health problems, and proper medical care.

“When we talk about preserving the lives and health of our servicemembers, we are not just talking about evacuation from the battlefield and the treatment of the wounded. An equally important task is preventing illness and maintaining the good health of our servicemembers. This directly affects the combat effectiveness of units, the preservation of personnel, and the readiness of troops to carry out combat missions,” Syrskyi emphasized.

He heard reports from the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Medical Forces and the heads of medical services for troop groupings and combat brigades.

Despite the difficult conditions of war, Ukrainian soldiers must receive the highest quality medical care, proper preventive care, and effective treatment. Therefore, the Commander-in-Chief noted that one of the priority tasks for the Medical Forces command is to intensify efforts to prevent illness, detect health problems early, and improve the quality of medical care for service members.

“Today, our military also needs more qualified medical personnel. I have issued instructions to prepare proposals in this regard. This issue is directly linked to preserving the combat capability of our troops, reducing non-combat losses, and maintaining an adequate level of health among service members,” Syrskyi emphasized.

The meeting participants paid special attention to preventive measures. Medical care for service members must be more systematic and effective. This includes vaccinations, regular medical examinations, screening programs, early detection of diseases, and the timely provision of necessary care.

A decision was also made to further strengthen the capabilities of medical evacuation units, specifically by providing additional armored vehicles and modern electronic warfare equipment.

“We are continuing to improve the training of service members in tactical medicine. We are analyzing existing problems and shortcomings in training and working to address them.

Today, the amount of tactical medicine training during basic general military training has been increased to 40 hours. However, it is also important to work on improving the quality of training,” added the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
