Report: Kaliningrad cancels Victory Day military parade

Kaliningrad will not hold a Victory Day military parade on May 9, several sources told the local news outlet Novy Kaliningrad.

Baltic Plus, another Kaliningrad-based outlet, also reported the cancellation, citing anonymous sources, including security officials.

Neither outlet gave a reason for the decision. Parade units have already begun returning to their permanent bases, Novy Kaliningrad said.

No official announcement has been made. Baltic Plus sought comment from the regional government and said its inquiry was acknowledged — officials promised to look into the matter — but two days later there had been no response.

The question of canceling Kaliningrad’s Victory Day parade was last raised in 2023, Novy Kaliningrad notes, and the parade went ahead that year. That same year, parades were canceled in the Belgorod Region, Kursk, and Russian-occupied Crimea for security reasons. In July 2025, the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg was canceled over security concerns.
