No buildup of strike forces on Belarusian territory has been observed at this time, but the threat remains.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, reported this on television.
“The situation along the border with Belarus differs from that along the border with Russia. If we’re talking about the border line itself or the immediate vicinity, then, fortunately, no buildup of strike forces that could pose a serious threat to our country has been observed so far,” Demchenko said.
At the same time, he noted that pressure from Russia on Belarus to join the war that the Russian Federation has unleashed against our country on a larger scale, including through attempts at provocation, continues.
As reported by Ukrinform, on May 15, following a meeting with military officials, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), and military and foreign intelligence agencies, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia had intensified contacts with Aleksandr Lukashenko to persuade Belarus to join new aggressive operations.
The president noted that in light of Russia’s attempts to more actively draw Belarus into the war, Ukraine will reinforce the Chernihiv-Kyiv sector.
Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, stated that Ukraine has already targeted 500 sites in Belarus in case Lukashenko joins the war.
