A 2017 rape case made Diana Shurygina famous across Russia. Now, a Moscow court has jailed her on charges of distributing pornography of herself.

The Troitsky District Court in Moscow has moved blogger Diana Shurygina from house arrest to a pretrial detention center, granting the investigation’s petition and changing her pretrial restrictions.

Shurygina, who took the surname Shlyanina after marrying, is charged with distributing pornography. On June 16, the Moscow-based news outlet Msk1 reported that she had been placed under house arrest until July 19.

Baza, a Telegram channel linked to the Russian security services, and Shot, a channel linked to law enforcement, both report that investigators petitioned the court after Shurygina violated the terms of her house arrest by using a mobile phone. She has been sent to the pretrial detention center for at least the next 11 days, according to the two channels.

Shurygina became a household name in Russia in 2017 after appearing on “Let Them Talk,” a popular talk show on national state television. During the broadcast, she recounted being raped at a party at age 16, accusing Sergei Semenov, then 21, whom she said she had not known before that night. Semenov was later sentenced to eight years in prison.

In June 2026, news emerged that a criminal case had been opened against Shurygina for distributing pornography. A law enforcement source told the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti that the case stemmed from the publication of intimate photos and videos on a Telegram channel that Shurygina administered. The pro-Kremlin Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda claims the investigation is connected to videos and photos she distributed through OnlyFans. Tabloids had reported as early as 2021 that Shurygina had opened an OnlyFans account where she “sold her explicit photos and videos.”
