A senior Iranian delegation has arrived in Switzerland on Sunday, June 21, to participate in negotiations with the US, Reuters reported.
The Iranian delegation is led by chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The group also includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, alongside officials representing Iran’s security apparatus, central bank, and oil industry.

Resumption of talks
The arrival of the Iranian officials follows efforts to restart technical consultations that were suspended due to recent military engagements between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The next round of negotiations was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, June 19, but the meeting was canceled following the outbreak of violence.
On the US side, Vice President JD Vance has departed Washington to attend the meetings. US Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner previously traveled to Switzerland to help resume the talks.
Witkoff and Kushner were involved in earlier negotiations that resulted in an initial memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. The White House had previously stated that Vance would travel to represent the US once appropriate conditions for the negotiations were met.
Negotiations between US and Iran
The push to finalize the agreement follows statements made by US President Donald Trump during the G7 summit, where he indicated an expectation that an accord ending the Middle East conflict would be signed shortly.
Trump noted he intended to delegate the formal signing of the agreement to Vance. During a press conference, Trump stated that the US is prepared to use military force if Iran violates the terms of the pending agreement, noting that the country would be “hit again” if it fails to comply.
