A man was killed and five others wounded in a terrorist attack at four locations in central Israel on Sunday, authorities said. Officials said that one assailant who was killed during the attack was an Israeli citizen who lived in Taibeh, adding that security forces were searching for additional suspects.
This is a developing story.
Israeli forces killed a commander in Hamas' Nukhba force in a strike on southern Gaza, the Israeli military said, identifying him as Sakr Abu Karim, whom it described as one of the operatives involved in leading the Oct. 7 attack on Kibbutz Kissufim and in directing militant activity during the war. The military said another Hamas operative was also killed in the strike.
The U.S. government will attempt to redirect Iranian assets to Gulf states for rebuilding and repairs of damage caused by Iran, a source familiar with the matter said, as Tehran followed up a wave of strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain with further drone launches.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has directed a team to assess costs for damages already inflicted on Gulf allies by Iran, the source said, adding that the U.S. will consider using Iranian assets for repairs of any future destruction as well. The disclosure came a day after Mohsen Rezaee, an adviser to Iran's supreme leader, told CNN that a peace deal to end the three-month war hinged on the release of $24 billion in Iranian assets frozen by the United States.
The source on Saturday did not specify what kind of assets the treasury was examining. The language used to describe the new measures did not appear limited to frozen assets.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday travelled to Iran's capital Tehran as part of Islamabad's ongoing diplomatic efforts to foster dialogue between Iran and the United States amid fresh attacks.
High-level meetings with Iranian government officials with the aim to promote dialogue between Iran and the United States are planned, Pakistani security and diplomatic sources told DPA on Saturday.
The Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported after Naqvi's arrival in Tehran late on Saturday that meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were scheduled.
The government-aligned ISNA news agency reported that the Pakistani interior minister was also expected to deliver a message from Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during his trip.
Naqvi is seen as a close confidante of Munir, who has also visited Iran as part of Islamabad's effort to mediate between the warring parties.

The incident occurred after Israeli security forces attempted to evacuate an illegal settler outpost. According to the IDF, the settler sustained light injuries to his head. The Palestinian driver initially got away from the scene and was later apprehended together with additional suspects and taken to questioning, the army's statement added.
