Quote: "Several Ukrzaliznytsia trains in Rivne, Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr oblasts are being rerouted as a result of a large-scale enemy attack and damage to railway infrastructure. This means delays on routes, which can be tracked on the uz-vezemo website. Backup diesel locomotives have been deployed to all sections without electricity. Inspection and repair of the infrastructure have also begun."

Details: Ukrzaliznytsia said that monitoring teams had managed to protect dozens of passenger trains from over a hundred Russian drones and missiles overnight.

Railway workers performed emergency stops and conducted several overnight evacuations of passengers due to the threat of further strikes.

Background:

  • On the night of 6-7 March, Russian forces conducted a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine.
  • First, Russian drones attacked the city of Sumy, hitting both residential and non-residential buildings, as well as the city of Chuhuiv in Kharkiv Oblast, where a drone struck a house and injured two people.
  • Later, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a five-storey residential building in Kharkiv, destroying the entrance section and killing and injuring people.
  • After that, Russian missiles also struck the city of Novodnistrovsk in Chernivtsi Oblast, causing power outages, and attacked Zaporizhzhia, injuring a baby.
