Details: Ukrenergo said emergency repair work is already underway where security conditions allow.

In addition, strong winds that have brought down trees onto power transmission lines have left more than 90 settlements fully or partially without electricity across four regions – Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv. Power engineers from regional energy companies are working to repair the damage in each area.

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption has increased. As of 09:30 on 8 April, it was 16% higher than at the same time the previous day, Tuesday.

"The reason for these changes is colder weather across all regions, as well as cloudy conditions throughout Ukraine, which reduce the efficiency of domestic solar power systems and increase consumption from the national grid," the company explained.

On 7 April, the daily peak in electricity consumption was recorded in the evening and was 1.9% higher than the peak on Monday 6 April due to the drop in temperatures.

Ukrenergo emphasised that, given the weather conditions, energy-saving measures are needed throughout the day in all regions.

"Please limit the use of electrical appliances as much as possible between 17:00 and 22:00. Do not switch on several high-power devices simultaneously during this period," the energy company said.

Background: On 8 April, power restriction schedules for industrial consumers are in effect across all regions of Ukraine from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 19:00 to 22:00.
