Russian Strike Hits Energy and Civilian Infrastructure in Odesa Region, Injuring One

Russian forces attacked energy and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region in the early hours of Friday, injuring one person and leaving parts of the Vilkove community without power, local officials said.

According to the Izmail District Military Administration, Russian forces targeted the Vilkove urban territorial community, located in the Danube region near Ukraine’s border with Romania.

“The enemy attacked energy and civilian infrastructure in the Vilkove urban territorial community. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out. State Emergency Service units promptly began eliminating its consequences,” the administration said.

One person was injured in the attack.

The strike damaged energy infrastructure, leaving the town of Vilkove and several settlements in the Vilkove community without electricity.

Emergency crews were working at the scene to put out the fire and deal with the aftermath of the attack.

The Odesa region, particularly its Danube port and energy infrastructure, has repeatedly been targeted by Russian drones and missiles since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion.

The latest strike came the same night Russian forces also attacked Zaporizhzhia, damaging a residential building and injuring one person, according to local officials.
