Zelensky: US ignores evidence that Russia helps Iran strike American bases in Middle East

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the United States is ignoring compelling evidence that Russia is helping Iran strike American bases in the Middle East because it “trusts” Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

According to Ukrinform, he made these remarks during Alastair Campbell’s podcast The Rest is Politics, as reported by The Guardian.

The Ukrainian leader noted that he had tried to draw the White House’s attention to the close cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Zelensky said that Russian military satellites had photographed critical infrastructure in the Gulf states and Israel, as well as the locations of US military bases in the region. According to him, the Kremlin passed this data and imagery to the Iranian regime to facilitate its attacks.

“I said this publicly. Did we hear a reaction from the US to Russia that they have to stop it? The problem is they trust Putin. And it’s a pity,” Zelensky stated.

He noted that US President Donald Trump’s team had failed to “really understand the details of what Russia wants.” When asked why this had happened, the president replied that two of Trump’s negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, had “spent too much time” with Putin and his senior officials.

Zelensky stated that he understands Putin’s psychology and his true military objectives better than the White House. He added that Putin will not stop if he captures Donbas and will then attempt to capture the regional centers—Dnipro and Kharkiv.

“We have to recognize that partially Americans are feeling that [Donbas is] nothing for us. They don’t want to recognize that Putin will lie to them and that he can continue the occupation even after such steps. The Americans are sure that they can trust Putin,” Zelensky said.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia had provided Iran with satellite intelligence on 50–53 facilities in Israel’s power grid.
