Navantia commits to involve Croatian industry in the Navy’s future multi-role corvettes, including delivery of two ships.
Navantia has put forward the Avante 2200/ALFA 3000 vessel as its candidate for the Croatian Navy’s Multi-role Corvette programme, detailing plans for both technological and industrial cooperation with local enterprises.
The Spanish company announced these plans at an Industry Day held at the Zagreb Chamber of Economy, which gathered more than 50 representatives from Croatian firms, including several leading shipyards.
During this event, Navantia signed letters of intent with the shipyard ULJANIK Brodogradnja and engineering and defence services provider NORTES BLUE, indicating steps towards future collaboration.
The Spanish Ambassador to Croatia, Jose Ramón García Hernandez, opened the event by expressing government support from Spain and emphasising trust in Navantia’s proposal.
Navantia outlined its intention to involve Croatian industry extensively in the project if selected.
The proposal includes delivery of two corvettes built to Nato standards, integrated logistics support packages, spare parts supply, crew and maintenance personnel training programmes, simulators, and support from the Spanish Navy.

The industrial plan targets participation from local shipyards, naval engineering firms and other Croatian companies across related sectors.
Navantia Europe commercial director Alfonso Valea said: “This Industry Day is an opportunity to maximise the integration of Croatian industry into our multi role corvette proposal, a proven and operational vessel. Our goal is to share technology, open real supply chain opportunities, and deliver operational value to the Croatian Navy from day one.
“Our offer reduces the risk in time and budget and places us as the most suitable offer for the Croatian Navy.”
Croatia’s plan to procure new corvettes was first reported by the local daily Jutarnji in January 2025.
According to the report, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić announced a major modernisation of the navy, centred on acquiring multi-purpose corvette-type ships.
At the time of the report, Jutarnji quoted Minister Anušić as saying that the procurement procedure for a multi-purpose corvette-class warship is already underway, marking “a new phase” in the transformation of Croatia’s naval forces.
The programme is reportedly projected to cost between €660m and €1.6bn.
